  • Summer Futsal

Futsal is a football-based game played on a hard court like a basketball court, smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It has similarities to five-a-side football and indoor football. Games will be on Saturdays; practices will take place just before the game each week. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor football, it is played on a hard court surface marked by lines; walls or boards are not used. It is played with a smaller, harder, lower-bounce ball than football. The surface, ball and rules favor ball control and passing in small spaces. The game emphasizes control, improvisation, creativity and technique. No jerseys will be handed out and we instead will use pennies for teams. Players/teams will need to check in before their matches in order to play. Players can wear indoor soccer shoes or non-marking sneakers. No cleats of any kind, open toed shoes or dress shoes. Players must wear shin guards under socks that cover the guard completely. The ball is heavier than an outdoor soccer ball and players/parents will need to understand there is a chance of injury while playing if hit by the ball as well as other standard soccer like injuries. Exact game times will be sent prior to June. Please contact jkelly@rslaz.org with any questions.
